Darrell
L. Heckman was born March 7, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio.
He graduated from Upper Arlington High School
where he was Student Council President in 1967.
He attended the University of Oklahoma for one
year and then transferred to The Ohio State University.
At
OSU Mr. Heckman was an active member of Delta Upsilon
Fraternity and a member of the Undergraduate Student
Government as a Senator.
During his senior year he traveled to the Soviet
Union and graduated in 1971.
Mr.
Heckman joined the United States Army Reserve in 1971
and was on active duty for four months at the end of
that year and remained in the Reserves for six years,
achieving the rank of Specialist, 4th Class.
Mr.
Heckman enrolled at the University of Toledo College of
Law in the fall of 1972, attended year-round, and
graduated in December, 1974.
He took and passed the February 1975 Ohio State
Bar Examination and was sworn in as a lawyer.
Mr.
Heckman married the former Nancy Keyser, an Urbana
schoolteacher, on July 29, 1978.
The Heckman’s have three children:
Lee, 29, who is a lawyer in Newark, Ohio;
Benjamin, 25, a third year dental student at the
University of Kentucky; and Julie, 24, a graduate
student at Wright State University.
Mr.
Heckman’s interests include reading, history, and
politics.
Mr.
Heckman has served the public in the following
